The word “normal” has been thrown around a lot during the pandemic. I doubt there has ever been one “normal,” however. What is “normal” for me, for instance, is outlandish at best, ridiculous at worst for my brother (and vice versa). Is one of us wrong? Odds are we both are, so most likely neither is.

In NYC, Broadway stages are full — normal, one might say — but seats aren’t. The point? Sometimes, we really do self-regulate (and the 16th was pretty “normal” as far as news goes — same old…Republicans and rogue Dems won’t let Dems get things done; that one guy is in the news again; domestic terrorism is alive and well; Putin is being Putin; Ukraine has seen better days; more supply chain issues are coming from China; etc.).
